Finding Kid Friendly Restaurant While Traveling

Much as I love the idea of traveling with my children, I have to confess that I quail at the thought of managing mealtimes. Sure, staying at rentals equipped with kitchens is a great idea for breakfast and dinner, but I've lost count of the substandard lunches we've endured because we couldn't find a place that served good food while still being kid-friendly. Luckily, I found this post at Delicious Baby that has some great tips for overcoming this common traveling/parenting dilemma...

Top 10 Kid-Friendly Dogs

Dogs are recommended pets for families, because they are good friends for both children and adults. They play with the children, and keep adults company. However, not all dog breeds are ideal for households with children.

Children, especially younger ones, tend to tug on their pet's tails and abuse them - all in love, of course. Children often cannot control their own strength, and they don't realize that they're hurting the dog. Dogs sometimes bite or hurt the children to defend themselves or communicate their discomfort. There are also dogs that unknowingly hurt the children in their playfulness…  http://www.squidoo.com/top-ten-kid-friendly-dogs

Home Made Lazy Susan Book Caddy

This is a great indoor project for parent and child…

What would summer be without trips to the library? But we noticed that our kids' library books have a tendency to wander around the house and get mixed in with books we own. We came up with this DIY book caddy for a fun solution to keeping the library books separate. We also think it's a great way to display favorite books that are in heavy rotation (no pun intended) http://www.ohdeedoh.com/ohdeedoh/how-to/diy-lazy-susan-book-caddy-121400

Mini Rollercoaster

Last week I took my friend's very active 2-year-old son to gymnastics class. After he exhausted hanging on bars, running and jumping on the trampoline, and jumping in the foam pit, we came across a baby roller coaster pushed off to the side. We had 15 minutes to spare as we waited for his older sister to finish her class; therefore, we spent the remaining time testing out the mini thrill ride…

Bike Parade

Happy Fourth of July! We're taking today and tomorrow (Monday) off to spend with our families and hope you are, too! We're re-posting this great idea from last year. Jo-Ann does some pre-planning, but there's no reason you can't hold an impromptu bike parade party this year!
It's things like this, folks, that makes childhood really special. Every year Jo-Ann organizes a bike parade for her children, their friends and neighbors. It's become a neighborhood tradition and one we hope inspires you
